The Buddha shares the consequences of holding on to right views and acting upon them based on his direct knowledge.

ITI 71  Sammādiṭṭhika sutta - Who Has Right View

Vuttañhetaṁ bhagavatā vuttamarahatāti me sutaṁ:

This was said by the Blessed One, said by the Awakened One, as I have heard:

“Diṭṭhā mayā, bhikkhave, sattā kāyasucaritena samannāgatā vacīsucaritena samannāgatā manosucaritena samannāgatā ariyānaṁ anupavādakā sammādiṭṭhikā sammādiṭṭhikammasamādānā. Te kāyassa bhedā paraṁ maraṇā sugatiṁ saggaṁ lokaṁ upapannā.

“|Bhikkhus,::::| I have seen beings who are endowed with good bodily conduct, good verbal conduct, and good mental conduct, who do not slander the Noble Ones, who |hold right views::who have right outlook, who have correct understanding of how things have come to be [sammādiṭṭhikā]|, and who |undertake actions based on right views::perform deeds based on correct outlook [sammādiṭṭhikammasamādānā]|. After the breaking up of the body, after death, they are reborn in |a fortunate state::a good destination [sugati]|, in a heavenly world.

Taṁ kho panāhaṁ, bhikkhave, nāññassa samaṇassa brāhmaṇassa sutvā vadāmi. Diṭṭhā mayā, bhikkhave, sattā kāyasucaritena samannāgatā vacīsucaritena samannāgatā manosucaritena samannāgatā ariyānaṁ anupavādakā sammādiṭṭhikā sammādiṭṭhikammasamādānā. Te kāyassa bhedā paraṁ maraṇā sugatiṁ saggaṁ lokaṁ upapannā. Api ca, bhikkhave, yadeva sāmaṁ ñātaṁ sāmaṁ diṭṭhaṁ sāmaṁ viditaṁ tadevāhaṁ vadāmi.

But|, bhikkhus,::::| I do not say this having heard it from another ascetic or brahmin. |Bhikkhus,::::| I have seen beings who are endowed with good bodily conduct, good verbal conduct, and good mental conduct, who do not slander the Noble Ones, who hold right views, and who undertake actions based on right views. After the breaking up of the body, after death, they are reborn in a fortunate state, in a heavenly world. Moreover, |bhikkhus,::::| what I have known for myself, seen for myself, and realized for myself, that is what I declare.

Diṭṭhā mayā, bhikkhave, sattā kāyasucaritena samannāgatā vacīsucaritena samannāgatā manosucaritena samannāgatā ariyānaṁ anupavādakā sammādiṭṭhikā sammādiṭṭhikammasamādānā. Te kāyassa bhedā paraṁ maraṇā sugatiṁ saggaṁ lokaṁ upapannā”ti.

|Bhikkhus,::::| I have seen beings who are endowed with good bodily conduct, good verbal conduct, and good mental conduct, who do not slander the Noble Ones, who hold right views, and who undertake actions based on right views. After the breaking up of the body, after death, they are reborn in a fortunate state, in a heavenly world.”

Etamatthaṁ bhagavā avoca. Tatthetaṁ iti vuccati:

The Blessed One spoke on this matter. In this regard, it is said:

“Sammā manaṁ paṇidhāya,
sammā vācañca bhāsiya;
Sammā kammāni katvāna,
kāyena idha puggalo.

“Having set the mind on right,
and having spoken right speech,
having undertaken right actions with the body,
a person here—

Bahussuto puññakaro,
appasmiṁ idha jīvite;
Kāyassa bhedā sappañño,
saggaṁ so upapajjatī”ti.

learned and having made merit,
in this short life here;
after the body’s break-up,
that |discerning one::one who has cultivated wisdom [sappañña]| is reborn in a heavenly world.”

Ayampi attho vutto bhagavatā, iti me sutanti.

This matter too was spoken by the Blessed One, as I have heard.
